Beginners Swedish Classes for Adults
Registration open for Fall 2025!
Starting Sunday September 7, 2025 the Swedish School in OC will resume its weekly beginner classes in Swedish for adults in-person in Laguna Niguel. We are also offering a virtual beginners course for adults. Both beginners classes will follow a similar format, and the classes will run weekly, every Sunday, through November 23. There will be 12 lessons in total for both in-person and online options. Join now to begin your Swedish studies or to brush up on your skills!
In-Person Course: Sundays 4:30-6 pm, September 7 - November 23, Laguna Niguel (exact address will be shared once you have been registered)
Online Course: Sundays 7-8:30 pm, September 7 - November 23, Zoom (link will be shared once you have been registered)
Course description: The purpose of the course is to become comfortable with using the Swedish language in a colloquial manner. We start from scratch and hone in on useful everyday phrases that are applicable in a common context. The content of the course corresponds with the literature used - the book alternates between informal dialogues, in which we make the acquaintances of some fictional characters, and fact-based texts about Geography, History and Culture of Sweden. Extensive wordlists accompany every text.
Teacher Bio: My name is Anders Jönsson. I hail from the second southernmost town of Sweden, Ystad. I made the move to Tustin, CA, where I still reside, in 2009 in order to get married. My main passions in life are, apart from a vivid interest in language, soccer and rock music. I have studied psychology, pedagogics and Swedish at, dare I say (?), the most prestigious university in Sweden, Lund. In Sweden, I worked as a teacher for 10 years and here in the US, I've been teaching Swedish at Language Door, a language school.
Please fill out the form below to register for the course - you will be asked to choose either the online or in-person course. By submitting the registration, you are enrolling in the entire Fall semester (September 7 – November 23).
The fee for the course is $200/month, which will be paid monthly in advance through PayPal in September, October, and November. The first payment is due on September 6.
